Should I disclose a recent mental illness in my Applications

Recently I was diagnosed as having ADHD, Anxiety and depression disorder this November. My parents told me to disclose this information as these mental disorders have a very large possibility of affecting my choices(Impacting GPA and test scores, extracurricular ) during high school. As a senior any medical help I receive will not change any numeric grade on my transcript. Will they look negatively on me if i disclose this ? am I supposed(mandatory) tell them about these diagnosis? What do you think will happen if I disclose this?

don’t bother – it won’t help you.

I think disclosing ADHD is fine, but i would not disclose the other two.

If you believe that informing them would be necessary to explain a deficit in your application, then you could ask your counselor to include such information in her letter or a supplemental letter that he/she could send to the schools.

However, I would avoid telling them about such disabilities unless absolutely necessary (ie. these disorders caused you to get poor grades in a class). Otherwise, you would be giving the colleges too much information, and they are trying to create classes with individuals capable of handling the stresses and academic rigor of college.

Same rule as for most supplemental information: don’t submit it, unless you need to.

Do not disclose. They can’t legally ask you for a reason – so don’t volunteer it. By disclosing it you are raising a red flag that says “this kid will cost us money”.

No.

No, it could hurt you.
