Little bit of introduction of myself… you can skip this.
Hello, I’m a Korean international student in American high school. I will be a freshman in Texas Tech University this fall! I started my high school in American as a junior last year. I am proud of myself to make it this far in very short period… Texas tech granted me huge… huge scholarship with $15,000 a year, and my mother is very happy about this result.
So, when I got accepted to Texas Tech, I found this major called, Energy Commerce. It was fascinating major that makes me to consider double majoring it with accounting. My future plan is to do both MBA & CPA and at the end… I want to be a business controller.
This is the Energy Commerce description that TTU provides

Should I consider double major? I mean I do have time until my sophomore year… but I guess I’m being too excited. Also, do you think this will increase my opportunity to get accepted to great business school? (for MBA). Please give me your advice and please be kind hhaha.
Thank you so much.
:x
If it’s something that you find interesting and fascinating then you should really consider it as a major or double major.
As far as MBA goes, I think the best MBA programs really look for the work experience between your undergraduate degree and when you apply to enroll. What I would focus on then is not trying to position yourself for an MBA but instead trying to land a good internship if possible and then a career in a field that you’re interested in.
Thank you so much. I love the major(Energy Commerce) but Im confused right now because I never thought I would consider myself in energy industry. I always thought of myself as being accountant and business manager. But… Energy somewhat fascinated me so recently and suddenly… I don’t know what Im going to do haha
Thank you for advice though
You don’t have to choose one or the other though. Energy companies are businesses. They have accountants. I’m sure they would love to work with or hire an accountant who already has a preexisting background and education in their work and industry. Most public accountants eventually specialize in different industries – real estate, finance, energy, IT, manufacturing, health care, etc. If you already know that your passion is energy, that just makes it easier for you to find your niche if you do go that route. I know when I first started in accounting I would always get asked a question like that and I had no idea what to say!
You are right…! I will try my best to double major accounting and energy commerce. I know both major are very challenging but yeah!
