Tomorrow is the deadline to withdraw from my course. I currently have a 70% in my pre-calculus class. Should I drop the course and get a W or stay? Today I talked to my professor about it and said we have 2 tests left to go. But he did say I can re take a test and drop the other test I did bad on. So what should I do?
If you can retake the bad test and drop the other, I would think your grade could possibly go all the way to an B+/A-, depending on the grade scales and such. Especially if you still have 2 tests and a final to go. It possible to still get a good grade.
But do you understand any of the material? Even if you retake the test and have the opportunity to do really good on the next few, that probably won’t happen if you don’t understand what is being taught. 1-2 Ws won’t really hurt your transfer application that bad, depending on where you want to go. Also if you do decide to take the W, make sure you have an A in it next semester.
You’re giving up too easily. If you truly want the grades, you can definitely achieve it.
I would recommend staying in the class to strengthen your ability to overcome academic struggles/difficulties. This may include making sacrifices. If you do not want grades that truly reflect your ability, then withdraw. Personally, I think overcoming such challenges instead of withdrawing reflect a stronger candidate for transferring.
