Should i email my teachers and tell them to disregard the recommendation request??

The common app is going to send my teachers and counselor an email asking them to fill out a letter of recommendation for me. but i already took care of this before Christmas break. the letters have already been sent out and there's no need for my teachers to do anything online anymore, or so i think. so should i just send them an email and tell them to disregard whatever the common app might send them?? or did i screw up in asking them to do everything by hand?? :?

EDIT: oh, and thanks!

Send the teachers, counselors an e-mail so they don’t waste their time. As part of the e-mail also thank them for assisting you. The colleges will accept e-mailed or regular mailed info from them.

thank you!

and wow! 16,057 posts!?!?! i hope to have that many posts one day :)

I am a teacher, and if your teachers are like me they won’t mind being told not to fill anything out or the fact that they had to do it by hand. Make sure you thank them for taking the time. Filling out forms and/or writting letters of recommendations are part of our job. In fact, I consider it a compliment when a student asks me to fill out anything, whether by hand or on the internet.
