Should I even bother applying to Columbia?

For years Columbia was my dream. However, I am not sure why. I think I recognized it as the best journalism school, though they don't even have a undergraduate journalism program. I have suddenly begun to despise Columbia, feeling that I don't exactly meet their sky high standards, or if I do, I'd be the dumb one amongst anybody I meet there. I am not stupid, unmotivated, or lazy. I have only just begun to think practically and am having second thoughts about applying to Columbia. (deadline is in about 7 hours).

I have a 4.17 weighted GPA, and a 3.98 unweighted. I will have taken 7 AP classes by graduation (only because i was not offered them 9th and 10th grade, and was limited to 4 11th and 3 12th) I have passed them all. I am president of National Beta Club, Editor-in-Chief of school magazine, Historian of National Honor Society, Vice President of MSA, Photographer of music club and in the Yearbook Staff. I have moved several times and studied in Egypt for a year and a semester which has limited my opportunities. But i play guitar and work at Chick-fil-A and have been a Sunday School teacher for years. I am in the top 10% of my school. I have a 1960 SAT score and a 30 ACT score. I do not mean to brag about my accomplishments, I just want a truthful answer on whether it is worth my time and effort to apply to Columbia University.

your hs record seems good although the standardized test scores could be improved. you should apply to columbia since theres is a chance you would get in and you seem well-rounded. columbia is ranked 6th in the world for english, so i think it would be a great journalism school.

I would apply, but don’t put your hopes and dreams on it, because you never know.

yolo …but seriously might as well if it’s been your dream

Columbia is definitely a reach with your stats. You should apply given your interest in the school, but don’t expect too much.

Yes apply.

Read this about an unlikely ED admit:

Okay thank you very much, I have decided to apply anyways and try my chances. Thank you :D
