Should i even bother applying to Rice?Your Opinion Needed

Rice is my dream school. however the people at my school who are applying are like the valedectorian and salutatorian and other people occupying the first 30 ranks of our class. so should i even bother applying and wasting the $50 for the app fee?

Apply Early Action by Dec. 1 and let them know how much you want to be there (unless you ED'd by today). Tell them you're very interested in a major of less demand, e.g.,
Foreign Languages and Literature: 6%
Parks And Recreation: 6%
Psychology: 6%
Business/Marketing: 5%
Visual and Performing Arts: 5%

especially the language, parks, or arts.

Rice looks at applications holistically -- so if you have the time write some stellar essays, then you might have a shot.

Are you from the northeast? They would like more students from the notheast, according to my friend's son, who is applying this year.

charlie -- I don't think Rice has their Interim Decision (EA) anymore. It's either ED or RD.

64 out of 500+ is a great rank. You also take challenging courses and have an interesting background. It's definately worth applying. Good luck!

if its your dream school, then apply!
