hey,

My dream was always to go to USC school of cinematic arts.

But I didn't do so well in high school. I wanted to try and take a year at my local Community college then transfer, but that might not be realistic.

USC school of cinematic arts is incredibly difficult to get into, I think one person on here said their transfer rate is less than that of Harvard Law.

I emailed an admission counselor and they said that I should take Classes that cover the General Education requirements at USC if I wanted to transfer. Most of these classes cover the same Humanities requirement at my local Community college, so it wouldn't go to a degree at my community college; if I don't get into USC I would have pretty much wasted a year. ( I've graduated High school 2007, so I would be wasting ANOTHER year)

My biggest dilemma is that if I stay at my local Community college, I could get an associates degree in almost any subject in about a year. I've taken some CLEP tests, which gives college credits and covers almost all my Gen Ed at my local colleges so I would just have to focus on the subject I'm majoring in itself. I could also earn 2 or 3 associate degrees by the end of fall 2010, because I'd only have to focus on the subject areas.

Clep is accepted at about 1200 colleges and universities, USC isn't included. So my associates wouldn't really "count" to them if I tried to transfer after I got my associates because my core credits wouldn't be accepted.

What should I do? I really want to go to the school of cinematic arts, but I believe the admission rate for that is less than 7%. Should I try to transfer, or stay out here and receive an associates in the time I would be trying to transfer?

Please help, I've registered for classes that cover my USC general requirement but I'm really thinking about changing my classes as the reality is hitting me of wasting another year.
