I'm going into college this year as a psychology major. I have some transfer credit that counts for GE, and there aren't many requirements for psych, so I was thinking of trying to double major. A couple of people have already suggested that I choose business as my second. UCSC offers a Business Management Economics Major, but when I saw "Economics," I remembered that I hated that course in high school! But I was also thinking that maybe I could give it another shot. My econ class in high school had us outline the chapters of the book, take tests, and do little activities comparing prices and such. It was pretty independent, so I was thinking that I might enjoy economics more if I had a little more instruction. On the other hand, I don't want to hate econ and then get a bad grade in it. I can't go all risky on my GPA. There's still a class open, though...should I try? Is business/psych even worth it? XP

Econ probably pays more, go with that.

Haha, you’re right that I have a better chance with jobs, but I want to do something that I at least moderately enjoy. Not to mention class that’s open right now is being taught by a professor who is known for boring lectures and hard tests. :/

I think, if you have room, you could give many majors another shot. Most of your impressions of certain classes are probably based on how they were taught in high school (boring teacher, great teacher, etc.) and a college professor could shake that up for you.

Class was not made to be enjoyed, and lectures were not made to be entertaining. Keep your nose to the grindstone and everything will work out.

econ in high school is nothing like econ in college. even if you took AP econ. its just one of those things that should be taught by a professor.
