Ok so we started balloting. I'm taking Pre-AP Pre-Calculus this year and got a C first semester. I'm a sophomore. I want to go on and take AP Calculus but I don't want to completely bomb it due to the fact that I did OK in Pre-Calc(mainly because a had an english learning teacher and family health issues). Do you guys think I can survive AP Calculus having got a C in Pre-Calc? I got a C because I had non-controllable family issues and an english learning teacher. I'm ahead one year in math than everyone else and re-taking pre-calc just to strengthen it makes me feel like I wasted this big advantage I was given...
My possible schedules for junior year:
1.CP English
2.Pre-AP Pre-Calc(again)*
3.AP US history
4.Computer Literacy(required,super easy lol)**
5. Pre-AP Biology***
6French III

Optional:Replace with AP Calc Optional: Replace with AP Physics if and only if I take AP Calc(required)
**Optional: Replace with Art 1-2(if I decide to take AP Calc and AP Physics, it's required too)

Hard schedule:
1.CP Eng
2. AP Calc
3.AP US History
4.Computer Lit
5.AP Physic
6.French III
Too much?
If I fail AP Calc, do you guys think the UC schools would take it seriously even though I took it again senior year? It replaces it right?

UCs will take you even without AP Calc, but not likely if you fail. The UCs won’t like it if you fail any course. You will need an average GPA of 3.5 or better to have a decent chance at most. Have you considered AP Stats instead of calc?

What is CP English? why not AP lang.?
Calc is really easy for me, but I do all my homework and I am pretty good at math. I got an A in precal.
APUSH is a tough course. Lots of reading, memorizing and note taking.
AP Physics is really hard. I have to study and practice A LOT. I’m getting a borderline B+/A-.
Can you skip pre-AP biology? I went straight into AP Bio as a sophomore, got an A and a 5 on the exam. Its easy. I had a tough teacher too.

My advice is to see how you do second semester in PreCal. If you can bring your grade up and get a solid A or B, take calculus, but be ready for a commitment. If you do poorly again, consider an easier math course such as AP Stats OR take precal/calculus at a community college over summer to prepare for AP Calc.

What I wanted to do is not leave all the hard classes for senior year. have to take it again, but you’ve convinced me.
I think I’m going to take…:
College Prep English(CP)
Pre-AP Pre-Calculus
AP US History
Pre-AP Biology(I need a life science so it’s required)
French III

IF I KEEP THIS SUPER EASY SCHEDULE I’ll be left with this for senior year:
AP Literature
AP Calculus
AP Government
AP Physics
French IV
Piano 1-2 or Art 1-2
That’s crazy right there…
