Should I go overseas to study or stay in the US?

Hello,

I'm currently a senior in high school. I've been admitted to a top university in Asia and some good liberal art colleges in the Midwest region studying PT. If I wanted to study overseas during my undergrad, how difficult would it be to be accepted into US grad school in medicine with a foreign degree?

Very difficult. You’ve probably heard of “pre-med” courses, which are required or strongly recommended for admission by most medical schools in the US. The current pre-med recommendations are as follows:

Two English literature or writing courses

Calculus, Statistics

One year of general chemistry

One year of organic chemistry

One year of biology

One year of physics

Recommended: physiology and biochemistry

I am not familiar with the curriculum at Asian universities, but in most non-American countries, students follow a standardized curriculum for their major and would not have the flexibility to complete the full pre-med sequence. (For example, English and advanced chemistry are probably not part of the Physical Therapy curriculum.)
