I am a junior in high school looking at colleges and I really like the idea of getting my bachelor’s overseas. I love travelling, learning and being in a new culture, and languages. I just don’t really know what would be better: getting a degree in the US and studying abroad for a year or going abroad for 4 years.
In most cases it’s better to study in the US and plan to spend a year abroad.
Exceptions are 1° if you choose universities that are well-known in the US (regardless of their actual standing - ie., St Andrews v. UCL), 2° if you already know exactly what you want to study 3° if that can be cheaper for you, either because you’re full-pay or because you can attend in France or Germany 4° you’re very autonomous and don’t need tutoring, study groups, office hours, campuses with dorms, etc. 5° have already lived abroad and know how to handle culture shock.
