So this year I decided to do speech team again (i did it last year but i only went to one tournament) but it was still the same as last year, I went to two tournaments, bombed them, didn’t practice, and just feel really low about myself. I somehow still made it to districts which is tomorrow but I haven’t practiced like at all for it, my piece is only 80 percent memorized and I get so nervous speaking in front of people. I know it is my fault and that I know that I should’ve practiced harder but I didn’t and all I can do is sit around and sulk.
If you have a team or a partner counting on you, you should definitely go. If you won a limited spot that others didn’t, you should go. If your coach is counting on you to be there, barring true illness or emergency, you need to be there.
How do you ever expect to get better at public speaking without practice?
If you’re so disengaged with this activity that you are only going to 1-2 tournaments per year, perhaps next year you should switch to an EC that actually interests and engages you.
Spend your time practicing not posting.
THe day after tomorrow ask yourself why you keep procastinating?
Fear of failure? Don’t really like doing this?
