Should I identify myself as Hispanic?

I will be taking the PSAT soon, and am wondering if I should identify myself as Hispanic or not, since my mom is from south America. I heard that there is a special recognition for Hispanics, but since I am only half Hispanics, would it be beneficial to say that I am or would I not get the same benefits if I by ( some crazy chance) happen to score well?

Half Hispanic is enough. I think the minimum is 1/4.

You are probably Hispanic–assuming that your mother comes from a Spanish-speaking country (i.e., not Brazil). Do you speak Spanish at home?

I would put the same designation you’ve selected in the past for checking off the boxes. If you have always self-identified as Hispanic, then by all means check it off.
