Should I independently study AP Language while doing AP Literature

Hi, I am currently taking AP English Literature and I love it. I've always loved Lit more than Language. I took the AP Language exam last year (freshman year because I was in an advanced class) and i got a 2 on it (terrible). I really do like English but my teacher was not really good and we focused on things that I felt were not helping (we were barely doing any MC which I desperately needed practice on). We also did essays but we did mostly Q2 (analysis) which I did the best at and hardly any synthesis and argument essays. It all felt like a waste of time. I think I want to independently study AP Lang because there are no other teachers at my school who teach it and I don't want to go through that experience again. Does anyone have any tips or resources and can I somehow blend AP Lit material to help me do better? Also, I'm taking 4 AP's (Comp Gov't, Bio, Euro, Lit) this year, so this would be my fifth. Is that too much of a load?

P.S. Sorry for such a long post

Self studying for Lang wouldn’t be bad if you had a teacher willing to read your essays and give you constructive criticism. I took AP Lang last year (got a 5) but I only did well because we wrote a LOT. Without that opportunity, I think I really would have struggled to do well.

I agree AP lang isnt bad, as long as someone reads you essays. Ap lang is based more on essays while AP lit is based on literature (lol), Shakespeare, classic books
