Should I just give up?

I plan on studying in Canada...I'm a sophomore in high school from USA. But after 2 days of research, I found out I'm not going to get any financial aid what so ever as an international student. I have 4 Canadian universities in mind: University of Toronto, York University, Ryerson University, and the University of British Columbia. Tuition for international students are around 20,000 each year. My family can't pay, I won't get financial aid...should I just give up on my dream and stay in the USA, or are there other options?

dude, you just said you can’t pay.

that’s pretty self-explanatory.

elenpink, why don’t you try posting on the Canada forum? You might get more help there.

Omg … Im in the same situation as you. Im also a sophomore and also wants to go to canadian universities. Especially ryerson and toronto. /: sigh 20k per year is a lot ! I don’t know what to say. Im having trouble with this problem too. If you have solutions could you message me as well? ^^

Could you not use the FAFSA? I’ve heard that it can be used in different countries.

community colleges in US first, then transfer

That would have to be done with a LOT of caution. Since Canadian degree requirements are a lot more rigid than American degree requirements, the majority of courses taken for a typical Associate’s degree might be useless at a Canadian university.

Woah, I am NOT going to a community college. I’m way better than that.

You must be a ■■■■■. Way better than CC? No. It doesn’t matter where you go to school. Work hard and you’ll be successful. If you aren’t dedicated enough to go to a CC then a university, give up.

Wow, sorry, I didn’t mean to sound like a ■■■■■. But my older sister when to university first, and I hope to do the same thing.

Doesn’t matter where you go first or not. Get a good GPA. That’s what matters. Employers would hire a 4.0 GPA student out of community college then a 3.0 GPA student out of Harvard. You also need work experience.

^No, not really.

The most brilliant person I’ve ever met went to community college.

Yeah right

whatt… probably not
