here’s the thing…and i’ve been thinking about this a lot in the 3 years that I"ve been at CC…while I agree with the attitude of giving things a chance (I’ve experienced that myself at times), i also think there are times where the school is not a good fit…doesn’t mean it’s not a great fit for 100 other people…just not for this person. Sometimes you have to go with your gut.
@SouthernHope you raise an excellent point, because while transferring is always going to be a difficult decision for me (going into a new environment once again, Georgetown’s prestige, etc etc…) my gut tells me that a transfer is in order and that hasn’t changed since late December/early January, which is when I made the decision to commence transfer applications. Also, the fact that everything is student run makes it very hard to participate in extra curricular activities because in order to participate in student run organizations/clubs, you need to have connections and probably bribe students to let you in. This is the fatal flaw in Georgetown’s social scene/extra curricular scene. @badyork has been singing the praises of Georgetown like a propaganda artist for the North Korean dictatorship but like I said, There is an alternative side to Georgetown I have seen, and people need to know about it
@badyork When students control everything, this is the kind of stuff that happens. Students are more easily swayed by emotion when making decisions as supposed to actual adults (like the admissions office). So while you say that a positive attribute of Georgetown is that it “isn’t dominated by students” and that “there is no greek life”, the fact that so many things are student run contradicts your point big league. It is because of this student run aspect that it is so difficult to participate in anything (students are not as rational when making decisions as supposed to actual adults), and this has thus hindered my extra curricular involvement big league

A couple of things:
• College Confidential is not a debate society. State your case and then move on. Nobody’s opinion will change regardless of how brilliant the argument, so don’t beat a dead horse. I’ll assume that the users who are debating above will either agree to disagree or will continue their debate via PM.

Imma just slide in here real quick if you don’t mind, Basanth. To all the incoming freshman or people even considering GU as a school, please completely and utterly ignore everything this man is spewing. Georgetown is nothing like the personal rhetoric that he is trying to push, which, by the way, he is only doing because his own actions have ostracized him from the student population (Republican and Democratic alike). GU is an inclusive place with a thriving social scene that everybody, and I mean everybody, can get involved in. Basanth, addressing your problems, maybe you would have a friend group if you actually tried to refrain from saying the ‘n’ word. Yes, we’re a liberal campus.

^^ This is the main reason why I am looking at transferring. Completely unfounded and dastardly accusations get thrown at you all over the place. The student body takes things out of context and uses it against you. Yes, I did produce a rap album almost 3 YEARS AGO (Summer of 2014) and like most rap albums, the song had some nsfw lyrics in them. The album was an album of COVER SONGS that ALREADY EXIST (“High School” , “I’m Different”, .“Lose Yourself” etc etc…) and those songs already contained those lyrics in them. The student body took that entire rap album out of context and made it seem like I was some vile, racist person when all I was doing was having some fun with my rap album- I am the least racist person you will ever meet and that is a guarantee!

Apparently some people think that advice from a moderator to keep it civil and not engage in debate is optional; it’s not. Since it was disregarded, the thread has been closed. Anyway, the OP has received plenty of food for thought.
