Should I live at home or on campus?

I want to live on campus really bad but I live like 2 minutes away from where my university is. My parents want me just to live at home and I can understand that, but I feel like I will be missing out. What do you guys think?

In the end it’s ultimately up to you, but both definitely have their benefits. Obviously living at home would save you a lot of money, but living in a dorm would give you the full college experience, and if you get homesick, clearly you won’t have much of a problem  so I’d say that you should weigh which matters more to you - that experience or the cost (which shouldn’t be underestimated either). Just my personal view on this

It really comes down to what your family can comfortably afford. If you can afford to live on campus without it being a financial burden I’d definitely opt for that.

Well, it isn’t “ultimately up to you” if your parents won’t pay for it.

Are your parents saying, “no,” because they can’t afford it? or are they saying “no” because they think it would be a waste of money?

How much is room and board at your school?

Are your parents going to be paying for your tuition and books? Are they providing a car for you to drive to school?

Is your school a “residential school” or do a number of kids commute?

You don’t have to “miss out” on activities…you can still join clubs and hang around campus after classes end, study in the library, etc.

Ok, so this is Auburn. There will be a number of kids commuting from your city. The instate tuition isn’t cheap, and your stats won’t get you any scholarship money, so maybe your parents are concerned about paying for tuition, books, etc???
