I am a sophomore at Farmingdale State College, I have been a commuter and am deciding if I should live on campus. I used to go to Purchase College and lived on campus, so I know what its like. But Farmingdale is mostly a commuter school and I am wondering if it will be a similar experience. Basically, I am looking for information from someone who has lived on campus at Farmingdale State College.

Farmingdale is definitely a commuter school. Anyway, your options will be limited and unfortunate, dorming can be pricey compared to living off campus and commuting as most students there do. And if students do dorm, they tend to go home for the weekend anyway like stony brook since most people there come from the area. Personally, I don’t think its worth it unless you are an international/out of state student.

Yeah, my impression of Farmingdale is that living on campus is definitely not an integral part of campus life, just because so many people do commute. I don’t know what the options are for local off-campus housing, but it has to be cheaper than the dorms. I guess the downside is that many off-campus people will be going home to their families whereas you presumably would not be. Sorry that’s not super helpful, just figured I’d chime in!
