Should I major in Civil Engineering? Job Security?

Hello,
I’m planning on attending UT Austin in the fall as a civil engineering major. I’m genuinely excited about this major, but I noticed many people don’t really talk about it nowadays, especially in comparison to Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering. And one of my biggest fears is job security after I graduate, so I’m not entirely how the job market is for civil engineers currently and how it will be a few years from now.
I know UT has a somewhat notable Civil Engineering Program, but do colleges really care about that? or does it only matter if the college is ABET Certified?
Should I try to switch to a more popular major, such as the ones I listed above, or stick with Civil. Also, does the college you go to really open up job opportunities?
Keep in mind that I would probably like to stay in the state of Texas, near Houston- Austin

Thanks guys

My daughter just graduated in civil. Civil was the smallest department at her school, but there were quite a few construction management majors to fill out the classes. For civil it does matter if the school is ABET, and you’ll have to take the FE.

She liked it. She has a job post graduation.

@twoinanddone Thank you, do you know if she got her job directly through her college?

I think it was off a posting, not school specific but maybe also on a school listing. It’s a national firm with many offices around the country, and 5-8 in the state where she attended school. I do know the guys who interviewed her went to other schools and didn’t seem to hold that against her.
