Should I not apply for FA?

Hey guys,

I was wondering should I not apply for financial aid? My parents easily make over 180k a year and I'm worried that I will not be able to get much or any. Also, I'm applying to Cornell, Johns Hopkins and Carnegie Mellon and I was wondering that if I check no under the "do you plan on applying for financial aid" my chances of admission will increase?

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

^I’ve got the same problem. Honestly, I don’t know :)

According to this [Need-blind admission - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](Need-blind admission - Wikipedia), JHU and Cornell are need-blind for Americans, so your financial status won’t make a difference. Your chances will improve for Carnegie Mellon though… With an income of 180k+, you’re likely to have a very large EFC… very little (or no) aid will be given to you.

I would file the forms regardless, esp. for JHU and Cornell. Any money is still some money, and that’s how you become eligible for loans from the school (offered through the school and so on) JHU also has some merit scholarships I believe…

Either way, ALWAYS apply. You never know if things go great this year, but not next, and you want to have stuff already on file.
