Should I pursue a journalism degree?

I am undecided but my interest mainly lies in english/political science/journalism.
I adore all things controversial and my teachers seem to think I have a talent for writing (not sure if it will translate well in university life) so I assume I will continue on that path.

My idealistic dream (if everything were to work out and I became a millionaire) would be to start my own news organization that aims to report in a less biased fashion. Reporters would come from all over the political spectrum and news would be reported from various areas all over the world. Panels would always include opposing views to ensure the viewer is always having their beliefs challenged no matter who they were.
On the side we would raise money to support causes like equal rights, separation of church and state, and to improve the lives of disadvantaged people.
Our message will be clear: a better world includes having a healthy mind.

That being said, there is always the issue of doing what is practical (not everyone can live in an ideal world.)
I value not being homeless or starving, so I would like a degree that can help me get a job. I’m not sure how useful a journalism degree would be, and there is still the issue of income.

Could I make this work? Is there another path I can take to do things partly related to my passion that pay well (and are in demand)?
