Will this help my chances or do nothing, or even harm my chances by making myself look like a stuck up kid.

I invest in* stocks

I’m wondering a similar question…

You should DEFINITELY put this in there. It shows that you apply your intelligence and that you are a real person, which is something that many people here on CC lack (unfortunately). Most people are trying to “rack up” ECs, but this is a genuine one that will spark an admission counselor’s interest.

^^^Yeah, instead of trying to rack up extra-curriculars, racking up money totally makes you a real person. I don’t get what you’re trying to say there. The only reason, if even that, that I would put that on my application was if I was a day trader. If you just bought some shares in a company and may sell them at a later date for more money, you aren’t doing anything special. That’s basically equivalent to a student who opens up and educational account and puts money into it to gain a profit from it and help pay for school. Which a lot of students do, btw, with the help of their parents.

So far I have put 700 dollars into stocks. Last year I put 200 dollars in a stock as a frosh and came out with 1200, which is pretty nice. This is just a genuine question, I understand where you’re coming from bsmd11.
