I'm a HS Junior right now and I've been playing squash (it's like racquetball) for 4 years now. I originally started out playing with the intention of getting recruited by colleges (all the top schools have squash teams) and getting scholarships but as I progressed further and further into HS it became more of a reality that that wouldn't happen. I love the sport, and I practice harder and put in more time than most of the other players, but I'm still waay behind everyone. I've played some tournaments, but my skill level was never high as the other players. My question is, is it worth it for me to keep playing? Do colleges care that I'm not all that successful in the sport, but that it is one of my main EC's (one of two actually)? Playing squash by itself is pretty unique and would set me apart since half the country doesn't even know what it is, let alone play it. But will colleges look favorably upon it as an EC? Or is there really no point in me playing it anymore...?

Judging from everything you said, I would suggest you continue with squash. Your reasons for considering dropping the sport seem to revolve only around college admissions. Sure, you say you’re not great at it, but how would quitting put you in a better position? Or, more importantly, how would it make you happier?

I agree. If it is something you really love, keep doing it. I think it would be great talking about it in your college essays. Plus, if you quit now, there probably is not a lot of options for other ECs since it is about halfway through the year already.
