One class that I really need to finish my degree was just dropped due to not having my financial aid in yet. I was planning on graduating this semester (fall), so if I cannot get this class back (I'm waitlisted right now, but school starts in two weeks), I'll have to finish in the spring instead.

Here's the thing. The only school that specifically needs an Associate's degree to admit me is the school that my CC has a guaranteed admissions agreement with (William & Mary)but it's not my top choice. My top choice is a school that I'd really rather be at for five semesters instead of four (Brandeis University)that means I want to transfer in as a second-semester sophomore rather than a junior so I don't have to graduate in the fall. The admissions person I talked to said it's very likely I'd be admitted as a junior if I have an Associate's degree.

So my question is: Would it be a bad idea to not try too hard to graduate this fall? I'm taking an extra math class that I only need for W&M, so if I'm not trying to get my degree this fall, I wouldn't have to take that anymore until spring. My other option is to pre-pay right now, before I get dropped from the rest of my classes for not paying.

I hope all this makes sense...I just want to know if not having my Associate's would look bad after 3 semesters and a summer at my community college. I'm also wondering whether it would look bad to drop classes that would give me credit upon transferring, like Geology and Math...is it too late? Am I just going to have to transfer as a junior?

I think I'm going to have a 3.7 after fall semester, but if I don't get in anywhere I guess I can stay this spring and apply to William & Mary for Fall 2011 if I have to.

(I'm also applying to UVA and Connecticut College for the spring.)

Thank you!
