Spring Transfer Application Question

Hi All!!!

I have a small dilemma and I need your help!!! I am currently a sophomore student at a community college in NJ and upon my graduation with an associates degree, I plan to apply to a few colleges that I always want to go to. I am a little behind schedule, so I will complete my associates degree this coming fall semester. This means that I have to apply to colleges for the Spring of 2013, but the problem is that none of the schools that I want to apply to accept spring applicants and its too late to apply to the schools for the fall semester. WHAT SHOULD I DO?????

What do you think: I was thinking about attending a nearby college for the spring 2013 semester and then apply to the other schools for the fall 2013.

Or do you think I should take the spring semester off and wait till the fall semester of 2013?

Thank you so much for your help. You don't know how much this means to me! Thankssss =)

One option is to delay your graduation at the CC until spring. Talk to the registrars at the colleges you’re talking to and get suggestions for courses at the CC likely to transfer.

You don’t have to graduate to transfer to another college so you could apply without finishing your degree. Is there a reason for you to actually have graduate and have an associates degree?

What sadilly says is technically true, but, there’s been some research lately demonstrating that associate degree holders earn more than others with more than two years of credits but no degree. They were comparing students who completed a two year program with those who started but did not complete at a four year program and had equal or greater credits.

That is to say that an associate degree in the hand is worth a bachelor degree in the bush. Go ahead and finish that associate degree. If some tragedy befalls that prevents your timely completion of the baccalaureate, you’ll be better off having the associate than not having it.

You do not have to go straight to a 4-year college or university the second you have your AA. Start planning now for the best way to use your “gap semester”. You could work or volunteer or travel or just sleep late every morning after you’ve been up to all hours revising your transfer applications.

Great suggestion from everyone. Thanks so much!!!

I have planned to finish my associates degree this fall semester, but I have found a few good schools that accept students in the Spring. Currentlly I am looking at Baruch College and TCNJ. Any opinions on those schools??

Thanks for the great idea happymomof1: “sleep late every morning after you’ve been up to all hours revising your transfer applications”!!! maybe I should sleep after all the lost hours of sleep.

Thanks sadilly and lynxinside: great suggestions! =)
