Should I retake my SAT as a transfer student? Should I take some subject tests?

Hi, I’m a upcoming college freshman majoring in Electrical Engineering and I have some stupid dreams of trying to transfer to a top tier school like Cornell and Duke. The thing is, my SAT score is very low (1260) and I feel like that’s going to ruin the tiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnyyyyyyyyyyyyy chance I have in getting in to those schools.

So my question is, should I retake the SAT? Should I take some subject tests too (Math 2 and Physics)? And will those schools only accept SAT scores taken during high school and not in college?

Thanks in advance

So Cornell to my knowledge doesn’t require you to submit your SAT scores if you have more than (I think 30?) credits. However, if you want to transfer earlier than that, then I’d definitely recommend retaking it. 1260 is definitely a bit low. Nevertheless, mainly you should be focusing on getting a 4.0.

You should check the colleges’ web sites to see if they want to see any high-school-based tests for transfer applicants.

@ucbalumnus I did and I’m still confused.

Here is what their web sites say for transfer applicants:

https://admissions.cornell.edu/apply/transfer-applicants/admission-requirements

https://admissions.duke.edu/application/instructions

For Duke, if you are not sure whether you should take or retake any of these tests now (after having enrolled in college), ask directly.

@ucbalumnus ok, I will ask both Cornell and Duke. Thanks!
