Hi guys , I’m a HS senior who knows he is going to transfer for more opportunities.
Im in a bit of a pickle, I am a senior and has only completed algebra 1 . I am currently taking algebra 2 and geometry at the same time. To add on I am teaching myself physics,calc1, chemistry and grammar because I never took these classes .
Because I only completed algebra one , I did poorly on my SAT, I got a 1080. Its hard to explain why,
I messed around alot in Hs.
My gpa is a 3.0
I am a member of my schools robotics team and served as their captain for one year . The college I am going to has a robotics team. Therefore I can pursue my curiosity for engineering . To add on I was also apart of the NYU ITEST summer program for robotics.
1)Should I retake the SAT for a better score?
2)Should I take the chem, physics Math2 and literature subject test in college? For a better chance to transfer
Your SAT score & GPA are too low for you to receive serious consideration for admission to Cornell University.
Try to focus on a more realistic list of target colleges and universities.
With respect to transferring from one college to another, the most important stat will be your college GPA earned during your first 2 years (first 60 credits).
Where have you been accepted so far?
Vaughn college or aeronautics and technology for Mechatronics engineering im going there and four cunys
Brooklyn college
City college
City tech
Medgar Evers College
In my personal opinion your best chance of ever being a student at Cornell or a similar university at that level is to work very hard from now until they hand you a bachelor’s degree at a different university, then consider applying to top ranked schools if you are looking to get a master’s degree at some point.
You however might want to retake the normal SAT while you are still a high school student. If nothing else you might want to see what you can do for your own sake.
A more difficult question is whether to expect to transfer after two years of college, probably to somewhere which is higher ranked than where you can get in now but lower ranked than Cornell. Perhaps one of the SUNY’s might make sense if you are from New York State. Wherever you start should have transfer advisors who can give you some advice in this area.
Cant I just retake the sat in college to have more time to study
“Cant I just retake the sat in college”
Someone else might know for sure. However it is my impression that once you are in college your SAT scores are not taken seriously. The expectation is that any college student should be able to do quite well on the SAT because they are older and more mature and have had more years to learn compared to high school students. Therefore their scores are not comparable with the scores of high school students.
