You should get at least above 2100.

Preferably above 2200 though.

Harvard required 2300+. sorry.

Hmm… I’ve signed up to retake the following:

CR: 720
M: 750
W: 720
Total: 2190

Aiming for 2250+. Good idea? Or will it not have too much of an impact?

OP, I would retake your SATs. Focus on the writing section, a 600 may be average, but not for HYP applicants. Also work on your math score. What is your intended major?

Sci-Fry: I would retake your SATs as well. It really depends on your intended major (as far as what you should focus on). In general, I would work on critical reading and writing. The writing section is fairly easy to improve on, review simple grammar and you should be able to improve your score past a 750. As for the critical reading section, identify your weeknesses and work on them. You have a good math score if you’re not interested in a math related major.

Literak: Harvard does NOT require 2300+
Most of the kids I know here did not get that high
To the original poster, you should try to get your writing score up.
Sci-Fry: Your scores are around average for a Harvard student. I actually got a 2180. If you really want to, you could take them again to bring up reading and writing. It can’t hurt.

^Literak was being sarcastic, I imagine.

For Sci-Fry, your scores are evenly distributed across the board. It will be hard raising your score whereas theres lots of room for improvement in a 600.

^ On reflection, yeah that’s probably true. Honestly, though, I’ve seen plenty of people say the exact same thing and be totally sincere, so I wouldn’t have been surprised if it was true.

I signed up to retake the SAT just in case. However, I’m worried by the possibility of my score going down. How bad does it look if your score goes down around 50 points? Would they only consider the highest scores.

I’m probably going to retake, but I’m also aware of the fact that if I get rejected it probably won’t only be due to SAT scores (nobody is that shallow)…

^ They only consider your highest scores. Don’t worry about them going down.
