How are your scores bad at all? Your Math SAT II makes up for your Math SAT I, and all of your other scores are fine (Writing really doesn't matter nearly as much as CR and Math).

If you do, however, really feel like you have to retake...SAT I.

No. At this point, any change in score isn't going to matter much. What do you mean "less than fantastic"? They're definitely fantastic. (A 1510 CR+M is amazing.) Not to mention your SAT IIs are awesome, too.

kyledavid80, my friends mostly scored 800 on their SAT IIs with the exception of Lit SATIIs. I read online that colleges expect you to score well on easy SAT IIs such as Math IIC, Physics, Chemistry.

That's your friends. What do they have to do with anything? On an absolute scale, your scores are awesome.

For one, none of those is "easy" (in part because it really depends on the person). Even the curves, while generous, are that way because they're so difficult. In addition, a 770 and 780 are extremely good; you did very, very well. Believe me, it would make no difference if you got an extra 20 or 30 points.

kyledavid80, you're right. That's exactly what I'm thinking. Study for the two SATII tests just to get another 20/30 points. How much of a difference is it going to make?

Yet, one part of my brain tells me that 2 800s would attract adcoms..

^^ no, it really wouldn't. Just look at the number of people with 800s that get rejected: it's obvious it's not that alluring, though people may think it is. Do they really think that a person with another 20-30 points is better at subject X than you? No. In fact, it might even look badly on you -- you know, retaking an already-awesome score to get a couple points higher. Seems rather neurotic.

Phil, you have as much of a chance of having your CR score go down as your Math score go up, you know that right? Sure, take the SAT again, unless there are additional subject tests that you think you could do well in [ like in the mid 700's.] A language or humanities test? US History? Literature? You're aiming for some very competative colleges and showing some strength in other areas that math ar science could be to your benefit.

If you can, retake your SAT for the privates(if they accept it). Do this, if you think you can improve. You should be fine if you are in-state for the UCs(they don't accept Jan. SAT scores).

You should note that a 2200 is well above the average of UCLA and Berkeley, and those are both fantastic schools. I don’t think you should retake.
