Hi all,
I took subject tests last June and got a 730 on physics and 740 on Math II. I know these aren’t necessarily bad scores, but compared with other applicants at top colleges I’m afraid they’ll hurt me (esp. math, basically every good math student gets 800s on that one). I’d only taken AP Physics 1 at the time (which only covers half of whats on the test) and probably didn’t spend as much time as I could learning the rest and reviewing for math. I feel like if I put in more time studying I could do significantly better on both, but I don’t know if its worth it to take that time away from writing and revising good essays and from handling my senior course load.
All my Nov 1 schools are state schools or uChicago (which doesn’t consider them) so I’m not worried about that, but I could take them in November and submit them to my January schools. For reference those schools are probably gonna be Swarthmore, Williams, Rice, and Princeton. And yes, I know Princeton is a long shot for anyone, so for that one its less of a “will this hurt my chances” thing and more of a “will this completely disqualify me” sorta thing.
Thank you!
No. Above 700=good.
