I just got my statewide ACT results back and I’m at a 31. While this is an improvement from my last score (30), I’m a little disappointed because I was so close to a 32. I don’t know whether or not to take the ACT again, or stick with this score. My top college is Georgetown University, but I’m also looking at NYU, Columbia, Duke, and a bunch of other higher level colleges. Is this score good enough ??
Congrats on the 31! Yes keep going to try to raise it to a 32+ for your target schools. Assume you are a junior and you are close and can do it over the next couple of test dates. Good luck.
I mean, the score alone of course isn’t good enough; no score really is for those schools. However, a 32 (preferably a 33+ for Columbia and some of the others) would definitely put you in the objectively average ballpark. These schools reject tons of “perfect” applicants, and even less selective colleges reject 35s and even 36s here and there (some more than others). These schools will always be reaches no matter how well you do, but keep at it. Every bit helps, right?
Good luck, and hope it all works out!
