Should I retake the SAT or take a Subject Test?

Hi. I’m new to CC.
I really need some advice.
This is going to be long.
I have really bad “testing anxiety”. The first time I took the SAT in December, I panicked during both the English sections, but my math went alright. I ended up getting a 650 in English (don’t remember subscores) and a 750 in math. So I decided to take it again in October. This time, I thought I wouldn’t get anxious. I ended up freaking out during the Reading Section. And because of that, I ran out of time and had to leave three questions. Writing and Math non-calulator went pretty well. However, I panicked worse during Math Calculator section. When I got my scores, English turned out to be fine. I got a 750 (36 in Reading and 39 in Writing). But I got a 690 in Math. So if I superscore, I have a 1500, which I’m not exactly happy with. I scored between a 1510-1580 in practice tests, so I guess I can do better. So I’m wondering whether I should retake the SAT or take a subject test since I’ve only taken 1 subject test and all the Ivies that I’m applying to recommend 2. My other test scores are pretty good. 800 in Biology M and 118/120 in the TOEFL (almost messed the TOEFL too because of anxiety). I really want to retake the SAT. I know it’s wiser to take a subject test, but I honestly think I won’t be able to focus on my applications (I’ve got SO MUCH left) and school tests if I choose to do so. I don’t think I’ll have to prepare much for the SAT. Also, the “Subject test atmosphere” doesn’t exactly make me anxious, so I don’t think I’ll mess it up. But I could get anxious during the SAT once again.
Also, I come from a low socioeconomic background. In fact, I initially wasn’t allowed to take the SAT more than once. So I need as many scholarships as possible. I’ve taken the TOEFL because I don’t live in the US. However, I do qualify for scholarships, as I am a US citizen.
I know the entire story wasn’t necessary but hehe.
And if you’ve stuck around till here THANK YOU SO MUCH. I would really appreciate any advice. Please help me! Thanks

If you really think you can improve your SAT score by a significant amount, then I would prioritize taking that again.

See if you can find counseling to help with your anxiety and retake SAT. Don’t worry about subject tests. I was told only 50% of admitted students at most elite schools submit subject test scores. Good Luck

I’m guessing you want an Ivy or you wouldn’t have posted on this thread? I’d retake the SAT. 690 on one of the sections is a little low from what I understand.

I could actually have superscored and got a 750 on both sections. Anyway, I retook it and got a better score. So thanks everyone!

Fabulous! Good luck!

How did you get your reading score up? Can you please give me tips on Reading/writing?
