Should I retake the SAT?

I am a junior and I got a 1570 (790 math, 780 reading, and 6/6/6 on the essay) on the December test. I am shooting for top colleges (UPenn, Brown…) that for the most part don’t require the essay.

1570 is a really good score but 6/6/6 for the essay could be improved. You’re probably fine with the score you have but I would shoot for 1600 if I were you

they DONT require essay however it is RECOMMENDED , so you should definetely increase your chances of admision by improving your essay score ,or even ACING essay score. also acing SAT as well!

DO NOT RETAKE!!! No one cares about the difference between a 1570 and a 1600. Also, an 18 is perfectly fine for the essay even for top schools.

NO don’t retake. I don’t know why you’d even consider retaking. Aren’t you satisfied?

Anything 1550+ is the same as a 1600. If you retake, colleges will think you’re obsessed with perfect scores and THAT could be a disadvantage.
Focus on your ecs, start your essays, do subject tests.

@Derpthulu isn’t getting any points for giving out sound advice here. Please don’t retake the SAT test, you’re done. Congrats on a great score!! Now time to keep your grades up, study for and take SAT Subject tests (if required)…just as @commonapplicant has indicated. Good luck on your journey!
