Should I retake the ssat

I just got my resulted for the ssat and I got 1926 or a 35%(I am currently in 8th grade) and I got 60 points below the average,do you think I should retake the ssat to get accepted into milton, concord,Deerfield,st mark's,choate, and st.pauls

I don’t know anything about those schools but I can tell you that my own daughter went up 30 percentage points from the October to November test. One of the idividual scores went up 50 percentage points. Not sure if she was nervous the first time but she did continue to study every weekend on top of her daily school work and the extra work paid off. My point is that it is possible to have a large increase in your scores from one test to the next. Good luck!

I got a similar score, a 1978. I’m retaking mine. It’s all what you want to do. If you feel like you would do better take it a second time. But don’t forget that it also costs 120 dollars plus a 35 dollar late fee. If financially you can do that, then it’s worth a shot. Also, the SSAT is only a part of the overall picture. If you’re overall grades in school are good, they will just figure that you don’t test well or just had an off day. If your interview went really well and all other things are in place, taking the SSAT again could help, but it wont hurt you. I’d say go for it.

Good luck!

I am going to retake on January 4th

SSAT is only one part of the overall picture, but it matters. All the schools that OP lists have very high average SSAT scores. For schools w very high avg SSAT scores, the score matters a lot.

Unless u are from a socioeconomically disadvantaged background, it is unlikely u will be admitted into those schools w SSAT below 50th percentile.

The SSAT score matters a lot from the schools point of view. It is a peek at what your SAT score will look like. These top boarding schools like St.Pauls and the others you mention want wicked good SSAT scores.

You should retake it

I think you should retake it, I took the SSAT 3 times; the first time I got a 75, second time I went down and got a 68 (idk how that happened) and the third time I got an 89!!! So my score improved greatly so the same will probably happen for you! Good luck :-)
