I took my first SAT IIs as a sophomore this june, and I did horrible:
World History: 530
Chemistry: 600

Should I retake them or should I just abandon these scores or replace them with other exams such as SAT Math II, Physics, and (USH/Chinese?)

Definitely retake them! As a sophomore, you’ve done something great in starting early and you have so much time to hone and improve your SAT skills. If you’ve got the funds to do so your junior year, I would highly recommend taking the Kaplan SAT prep course. As long as you do the work with it, it does a fantastic job! I didn’t start takin the SAT until my senior year (so late!) and Kaplan did wonders for me. It raised my initial SAT score from an 1830 to a 2090. don’t give up and best of luck!

Oops! Sorry, just reread the post! I never took any SAT II subject tests, but I would take the ones that truly interest you, what ever those may be. Take them again because you have the luxury of time on your hands! I’m sure there are prep courses or books on subject tests as well. Best of luck!

This doesn’t have to be an either/or situation. Because you’re just going into your junior year, you actually have plenty of time to do BOTH options. You have more than enough opportunities to both retake World History/Chemistry, AND take additional tests like Math II, Physics, etc :)

Pick two or three subjects that you will do best for the SAT2. Practically, you should take the test right after AP exam of corresponding subject. If you want to major in engineering or science, you should take Math2 when you are taking or finished taking pre-calc.
