Okay. So, like many people on here, my goal is to get into a very prestigious university. The Ivies, Stanford, Williams, and sme UCs. Schools like that.
The first time I took the SAT i got a 2190.
Math: 690
Reading: 760
Writing: 740, with an essay score of 9
I studied a bit,retook it and got a 2290:
Math: 760
Reading: 770
Writing 760, with an essay score of 8.
So here is my dilemma- As a total score, I don’t think I can get much better than a 2290. I think I got really lucky on math, because I had never scored above a 700 before, on practice tests. That’s what really helped boost my score. However, I know I can get an 800 on Reading. I’ve done it it pretty consistently on the many practice tests. I also think I can do better on writing. My essay scores drag me down, because I do well on the multiple choice. During practice, I usually get 10s or 11s on essays.
Therefore, if I were to retake the SAT, I think I would get around an 800 in reading, a 780 in writing, and probably below 700 in math. This would help my superscore, and get it above 2350, which would be awesome. But is it even worth it? Will colleges see that my math score was just a fluke? Does superscore matter? Is 3 times too many times to take it?
Another factor is that I probably will take the ACT too, and I need to prepare for that. (Side question: is it worth it to take the ACT if I got a 2290?)
Obviously I have a lot of questions. Thanks for your guys’ help.
