Before you say anything let me say this:
I took the SAT for the first time this March and got a 2290:
720 CR
770 Math (missed 2)
800 W (11 essay)
I feel like 800 math is definitely within my grasp from practice. And as many have been saying, the CR this test was harder than normal, so I feel like I can plausibly get a 750 retake.
The thing is, I know people say to focus on other parts of the app and I agree scores aren't everything. But since this is my first time, and it's recommended to take it twice, should I give it a second shot in Senior year October? The thing is, I feel like I can improve with minimal studying. I've scored 2300-2360 consistently in practice. Given 800 in W, I only need to improve CR and Math, which I feel is very doable, to raise my superscore.

What do you guys think?
(p.s., took ACT first time this Feb and got 34. Took SAT in case I qualify with my 225 PSAT for national merit, but SAT may become my best score.)

I’m in a similar position. Happy with my combined score, but i know i can raise the superscore, so I’m retaking in october. If it’s not that much trouble then there’s no reason not to.

Ya that’s what I’m thinking. I was just wondering if taking the SAT just once and receiving a pretty good score would look better than trying multiple times. But my CR +M is only 1490 and I’m almost certain I can improve it.

If you feel that you can improve, then go for it. Stellar score, but 1490 CR+M could be better, especially for ivies. Don’t think you’d be penalized by trying again and improving

I only got 2250 but same 1490 composite. I think you should retest. First, you have an 800 writing, so you don’t need to pay attention to that. Just focus on math and reading. This worked for me and your writing scores won’t really go down much if at all.

I got 800 on math on my first test, then got 800 on reading and writing on second test for 2400 superscore/2370 single sitting.

Thanks you guys I think I will retake
