Should I say I raised "thousands" of dollars?

<p>Hi everyone,</p>

<p>So I'm talking about a charity club I was president of in one of my essays. I only raised about $2,000, but should I say that I raised "thousands" of dollars? I don't think specifying the amount is necessary since it's an approximation but I don't know how else to word it. </p>

<p>"A few thousand dollars" maybe?</p>

<p>Any input will be appreciated.</p>

<p>So you would say “about $2,000”.</p>

<p>If you were the president of a club that raised $2000 then it would not be correct to say “I raised $2000” … something more like “I led the club’s effort that raised $2000” would be more accurate.</p>

<p>You lead a club that raised $2,000. That’s how you should put it.</p>

<p>Raising $2000 is admirable and so is leading a charity club. Be specific- thousands of dollars is too vague.</p>
