I’m a junior in high school, and I’m thinking about self-studying for the APUSH test. Due to IBCC, I don’t have any AP classes. However, I plan to take the AP Biology, Macroeconomics, and US History tests. I’m fairly proficient at Biology, so I should be fine with that. However, I only took one semester of economics, and I took US History over the summer (an accelerated course). The Macroeconomics test is pretty easy, and I’m sure that if I study hard, I can get a 3/4 on the APUSH test, possibly even a 5. My sister is advising me against taking the Macro and APUSH tests. Should I do it?
Apush is a breeze don’t even read the book the teacher gives you…Crammed all 300 years a week before the test got a 5. Review the periods thoroughly though Karl Linhart and Jocz Production as well as Adam Norris are great for that. I self studied and felt really good on the test believe me not that hard B-)
I’d say the person above is a little unusual. Plenty of people take the course, study hard for the exam and still don’t get a 5.
I actually think that you should try to self-study the AP exam. For example, I literally knew nothing the day before the exam (I have the worst teacher ever - he says that he hates the AP exam so he doesn’t bother preparing us), but I basically read the entire Princeton review book and almost pulled an all nighter, and I believe that I got either a high 4 or low 5. In the end, self-studying apush (or any other ap for that matter) really won’t make much of a difference unless there’s a chance that you could get college credit.
NO!!! AP classes are best learned when you take them in a classroom environment. my teacher was a great teacher - she made class fun and taught really well at the same time. the only reason you should try to self study is if the teacher at your school isnt very good. otherwise take the class (its free unlike college classes that you will have to take if you dont get a good score)
