I have been dancing the Indian Cultural Dance Bharatanatyam for 12 years (since I was 4). Though I don't have a significant award, impressive dance resume, or plan on majoring in dance, I feel that this has been a significant part of the majority of my life and helps me express my artistic and cultural self. Should I send an Arts Supplement?

Harvard's website says, "These materials are entirely optional; please only submit them if you have unusual talents."

Does this fall under unusual talents?

Other schools, such as Yale and Stanford, advise against submitting if it isn't award-winning or super extraordinary in some other way because it takes time away from other parts of your application.

But, if it is "evaluated by faculty", then how can it take away the admissions committee's time?

If for some reason this applies to Harvard, I have other things going for me on the application that I feel are more important than dance (though dance is still very important) that I would prefer that they concentrate on over dance (if necessary).

Do I need to submit a rec letter from my dance teacher?
