Unusual "Dance" Supplement?

Hi everyone! So, I do hoop dance, which is basically performing a dance and doing tricks with a hula hoop. (Try searching up some hoop dance videos to get a better idea of what it is.)

I’ve mentioned this hobby of mine in my EC essay on the Common App, but I don’t think they’d really have a clear picture of what it is¿ The thing is, I wasn’t planning on submitting any supplementary application material, but now I’m not so sure. Harvard specifically says “Consider carefully whether your supplemental materials demonstrate unusual talent before submission.” I’d say hoop dancing is pretty unusual, but I don’t want to submit it and have it hurt my application by how weird it is. Idkk, help? Should I just go for it or

They are all college-educated - they know what it is.

It won’t hurt you by how weird it is. It would hurt you if you’re are not phenomenally amazing at it. When Harvard says “Carefully consider” they really mean “Think long and hard about whether this will enhance your application of detract from it.” IMO, if you’re on the fence, don’t send.

So if you were Lisa Lottie doing the 6 Phoenix thing I would submit it. It really depends on how good you are athletically and perhaps most of all artistically.

PM ed you…
