I’m currently doubling up in math, taking both AP Statistics and Pre-Calc Honors, but my math score on the SAT is admittedly weak. I scored a 670 in CR, a 680 in Writing, but only a 530 in Math (I’m not the greatest test taker). I’m in the top 6% of my class, I have taken 7 AP classes thus far (Senior Year = AP Spanish, AP Stat, AP English, AP Environmental Science and AP Spanish), in addition to many other honors classes, and am actively involved/have leadership positions in several clubs. Should I apply test-optional or send in my score?
Are you applying ED or RD? My son had similar scores and no AP classes, applied ED1 and was admitted. He showed lots and lots of interest and wrote a killer essay. His GPA was only 3.3. American wants you if you are interested. There are a lot of kids who have higher scores who don’t get in because American can tell that they are being used as a safety school. My son is excelling at American and his GPA is much higher than his high school GPA.
