I know this is an odd question, and I even hestitate to ask. But it seems legitimate, and for the past two days it's put a damper on my happiness of actually getting a perfect score.
Here's the deal: I'm a senior in high school, and on Nov I took the SATs for the third time, and got a 2400. Before, I had scored a 2340 (800 CR, 770 Math, 770 Writing) on my second time, but I had a gut feeling that I could get the perfect score, and almost on a whim I signed up for the test again...and vuala! So now I have this delimma--I've read all over this forum that colleges dislike people who seem like they're score-grubbers or extreme perfectionists/over-achievers. But on the other hand, it seems like such a waste not to send in this score, and since when should you be punished for aiming high?
My college list includes Harvard, Princeton, and MIT.
So what do you guys think? Should I risk it and send out my score?

Yeah, write it down. It's not a secret; the collegeboard includes all scores on their score reports, so there's no reason not to list it on the application.

Congratulations on your score. :)

congrats.. and its a good thing "voila" wasn't on the cr. reading section :)

Goodness, send out the score! And congrats!

PS. The Ivy League admissions officers who talked to our high school said they'd raise their eyebrows if you took it more than three times, not two.

"congrats.. and its a good thing "voila" wasn't on the cr. reading section "

or "delimma".. :)

...or "hestitate" .

It's a good thing that there isn't a spelling section, period -- and not just for the OP but for most of us as well.

What's done is done, I guess you will have to live with the results. I appreciate that you realize you now risk becoming a statistic. Elite colleges just love bragging about the percentage of "perfect SAT scorers" and valedictorians they reject. It is a bit of a competition. If Harvard rejects 50% of all perfect SAT scores, then Yale tries to reject 55%.

Remember, 2400 will get you into Bunker Hill Community College on a dime. ;)

congrats on the 2400-send it. Also realize there are plenty of 2400 students who end up at their safety schools, even those who happen to be gifted spellers ( I know one personally...).

OK, at least you asked if you should send them. For a moment, I thought you might ask if you should retake!

By all means, send them.

Congrats.

Yes, you were in luck that spelling wasn't part of the test! :D

Well, at some point someone is going to ask if they should retake a 2400... just to see if it was a fluke! (My friends bet me I couldn't do it again)

lol i think my 2390 might be better since they don't brag about rejecting 2390s.
