Should I send my ACT, SAT, or both scores to my college?

Hi everyone!

I was wondering which test score I should send when I fill out my college applications.

I want to go into engineering so my math/science scores should be pretty high, but I am worried that my act scores for those sections aren’t high enough.

Act score:
34 C (35 E, 34 M, 33 R, 34 S)

Sat score:
1520 C (720 R&W, 800 M)

My sat score for the math section is good, but my reading and writing score of 720 may bring me down…

Any advice on what you would send to colleges?

Thanks!

Is cost a concern? Are you going to take SAT2? You know you have nothing to hide anyway. I would suggest to submit both if you can afford. They appeared comparable on CB’s concordance table, but certain schools put different weights on different section score. So one may appear better than the other in their eyes.

They’re both strong scores, so if you can send both you should. If you can only afford to only send one as billscho mentioned, I’d lean to the SATs since you have a 800 in Math there.

…be sure to check the rules at the places you actually apply to- there are some that require you to send all your scores. No point cheating- your test scores aren’t going to be the reason you are rejected anywhere.

1520 is the borderline minimum to be considered equivalent to a 34 ACT score. Like other said above, try to send both, if it’s possible. If not, I would recommend sending you SAT since your Math score is a perfect 800. Although, it won’t really make a difference.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I’ll try and send both scores if possible when applying now!
