I didn't like any of the into series(statics, strength of materials, dynamics), I really just hated bending moments, stresses, etc.

Should I not major in MechE?

Should I not major in MechE?

Very possibly. MechE is more of the same, and if you don’t like the core classes you probably won’t like what comes later.

Why did you choose MechE in the first place?

Well that’s not all there is to mechanical engineering. What did you think of thermodynamics or fluid mechanics?

What you mean you hated them? You should find them necessary, because as an MechE you’re interested in building mechanical stuff and you want to know how to build mechanical stuff so that it works as intended and doesn’t break/collapse or even kill people.

I choose to do mechanical since it was so broad. And my school doesn’t have a engineering discipline for petroleum, so I thought that mechanical was the best way to get into reservoir or facilities engineering in the upstream sector.

I have not taken thermo or fluids yet. Had about a week exposure to a fluids class and kinda liked it. Just by remembering the stuff in physics about thermo and fluids, it seems like I would really like it, but again, I don’t know.

What I mean by hating them is that I really don’t like setting up problems to use a method of sections, or truss analysis, it seems like way to much civil engineering stuff to find the forces in a section of a beam, or bending moments. I barely understood what was even happening/
