Should I submit an arts supplement to colleges?

I have a really big dilemma. I’ve been playing clarinet for a while, but I’m not amazing. On my resume, I’ve listed that I play for bands I have to audition for outside of school, and I’ve won merit awards based on my performances. But I just recently did a recording, and it’s not the best. I played two songs with accompaniment and one solo. My clarinet teacher said the accompaniments are good but the solo I should think about it.

The first deadline to submit the supplement is on October 15th (for Stanford REA), and I’ve heard you have to be really good in order for it either to help you or not hurt you. I’m afraid that it will hurt me. Would it be worth it to submit it to colleges?

My D was told her supplement had to be conservatory level or not bother sending.

You might have time to redo the solo piece?

I will send what you have if you are running out of time.

My two cents:

Do you perform better live? If you ever decide to RD Stanford, and doing live audition there is a possibility, consider doing that (you will have more time to prep for your performance and other part of your app).
