I am applying to many privates, like Boston C and Rochester U. I got 112, which is pretty good (it's out of 120), but the breakiut was R- 30, W-29, L- 30, Speaking - 23 (baad)
the reason I failed speaking is probably my accent + I am not used to speaking in 30 sec slots. So, should I send the scores. Btw, on common app I indicated that I took toefl and got 112, does it mean I HAVE to submit official report?

Not necesarrily. You ask the admission office of the Universities to which you are applying. Sometimes they might waive your TOEFL. As they did for me. And congrats on your fine result!
By the way some colleges test your fluency in english through the CR section in the SAT.

I’m in the same situation too. I had 114. Everything was near perfect besides my speaking. I have near American accent, and I’m not bad at speaking. But, speaking under pressure. Phew. That’s hard. Along with the fact that I have never done anything similar to it

maruhan - may i ask how u got near american accent? that’s like my biggest wish))
yeah, the only time I did anything similar was for spanish test, and that didn’t go too well either))

If I submit the score, will it hurt me?

You need to find out if the TOEFL is required by these colleges/universities. If it is, you have to send official scores.

Speaking is the toughest part of the TOEFL. Don’t worry about this score unless you are a graduate student being considered for a teaching assistantship. If you are serious about improving your pronunciation, you should look for a teacher who has experience in “Accent Reduction”. This will take time and a lot of work, but it can be done.

23 on speaking is generally considered a very good score. You shouldn’t worry about it.

Well, I learned my english in New York :p
