Hello Everyone,
I am a materials engineering major and this is my junior year. I go to Drexel and i am in a five year three coop program. I am kind of frustrated at this moment about my major. My first coop was at Philadelphia water dept. and it wasn't really related to my major. But in this year for my second coop, I didn't find any coop. I have applied to at least 50 companies but ended up getting three interviews so far. Unfortunately, I didn't get any job offer. Now my question is am I in the right major and if materials engineering has a good future. I am anxious that I will not get any job after graduation because in my opinion coop resembles the real job market. If there are not enough internship positions available for this major, then there wouldn't be a lot of job openings for new grads. So now I am thinking about switching major to electrical engineering. I saw many of my friends have got coops and its a broad field and there is a greater possibility of getting a job at the end. But there is also confusion in my my mind because I don't have any coop experience in electrical and i might have the same situation all over again. Also if i do switch, I can only go to power engineering.
Thank you all in advance. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
