Should I switch Senior Year??!

So, basically, here goes: I have just started my senior year. Since 7th grade, I have gone to a very small magnet school. Technically public, but basically private. very academically rigorous (avg. gpa is like maybe 4.3), uniforms, super strict, most people haven’t done that much stuff, VERY small. Senior class of about 40 kids. Anyways, i have always hated this school for all the above mentioned reasons, and I always wished I went to a large public highschool to get the full experience. I also highly enjoy meeting new people, and it’s been the same for the past 5 years more or less. However, I was always able to continue, as I had my best friends there, so it never bothered me insanely. Now here’s the problem: My girlfriend attends a different school, and in this past week, my 2 best friends transferred out due to work (all public schools in the district more or less let seniors out at like 12 because credits are fulfilled but ours is 3 o clock). I have some friends there, but none of them are close. The people I truly care about don’t even go here anymore, and I’ve never viewed my school as more of a prison. The same small people, strict rules, absolute boredom. I’m so torn on whether I should switch to be with them or ride it out this last year. I already feel very lonely, loss of motivation for work, etc. The other problem is I don’t know how much it’ll affect college apps. I’ve taken subject tests, 33 ACT, 5 AP’s this year, 4.61 weighted gpa, extracurriculars, etc. But every day, I feel more and more confined, trapped, sad. I know a few years from now, none of this will really matter. However, I still have absolutely no idea what to do, and it’s driving me crazy. I’d appreciate it SO MUCH if someone could give me their opinion/input. Please :frowning:

I don’t think you should switch schools just because of friends. If there are other reasons, though, it might be worth it, but you’d have to explain that on your college app. Talk to your GC/academic advisor to see if this might affect your chances.

Thank you, will talk to him
