Should I take a lighter courseload?

I'm a math major taking these classes next term:
Ma 2 - Differential Equations
Ma 5 - Abstract Algebra
Ma 108 - Classical Analysis (I took analysis at a state school on my year off from college, so this should be slightly easier)
Ph 12 - Waves and quantum mechanics and stuff (same with quantum mechanics)
Ec 11 - Intro to Economics
Ph 3 - Freshman physics lab (pass/fail)
CNS 100 - a seminar class where you show up one hour a week and they give you pizza and you don't actually have to do any work.

In total I will have 52 units (roughly 17 credit hours). I'm pretty smart and usually get As in my classes. So I think under normal circumstances I could handle this schedule. But I have regular mental breakdowns during which I can't do any work at all. Like right now I'm in the middle of a mental breakdown and it's taken me four days to write a 4-page double-spaced paper for a pass/fail class. And I've only written one page of it. (And it was due last Wednesday.)

Should I take a lighter load next term? Obviously if I go crazy next term I won't be able to handle this schedule at all. But if I go crazy next term I don't think I'll even be able to handle 36 units. My friends think I should cut my courseload, but I am skeptical.

Thanks,
crazy frosh.

P.S. The Dean knows about my situation so I will probably have unlimited extensions on my homework sets.

Is that Classical Analysis as in a course in real analysis? The fact that you already took an analysis class means you can probably handle it, but as a freshman, taking 3 math courses along with physics sounds rough (especially if thats real analysis). If you are a freshman most people won’t be coming in taking math like, you might want to “relax” (relatively speaking, with 2 math + a physics) and have a more balanced freshman year. just my two cents, although I might be completely off, it depends on if you think that schedule is something you wouldn’t mind handling right away.

I’m a frosh now, I’m going to be a sophomore.
Math 2 and Ph 12 are sophomore core requirements, except most people take Ph 2, which is the easier version of Ph 12. Math 5 is a sophomore math major requirement. Ph 3 and Math 108 are things I need to take eventually but not necessarily now. (And yes, it is real analysis.)

Thanks for your advice :)

I think those classes are the ones you can handle. However, you should take one day off (Sunday) every week for relaxation so that you feel all fresh and recharged throughout the new week. Sometimes taking sometime off from work will help you become more efficient. Writing is usually the most difficult task for any person, as professional writers often have writer’s blocks.
